It has been learned that the main suspect connected to a series of video clips involving teachers of Nalanda College in Colombo—which recently caused widespread discussion on social media—is a student who previously served as the school’s Head Prefect and has now been expelled. It is also reported that, by tradition, the Head Prefect of the school is a senior student who has completed the Advanced Level examinations, so leaving the school after this incident reportedly did not pose a major issue for him.

According to available information, the student engaged in several inappropriate interactions via video calls with four teachers known to him from the school. It is alleged that he secretly recorded these interactions by misleading the teachers. Reports further suggest that the recorded footage later came into the possession of third parties and was subsequently released on the internet.
So far, no official complaint has been received by the Borella or Maradana police stations in the area where the school is located. However, internal school sources state that the incident occurred some time ago and that, once it became public, the school authorities took steps to dissolve the entire prefect board, including the Head Prefect who was involved.
Later, silent videos showing inappropriate conversations and remote interactions between the student and the teachers began circulating online. Four teachers have been identified in these videos. Two of them appear to be older, while the other two appear to be younger.

In one video, an older female teacher is seen engaging in highly inappropriate and unusual behavior. In another, a younger female teacher is shown engaging in improper conduct while on a bed. One video involving a younger teacher reportedly contains only close-up visuals and conversation, while another video shows a middle-aged female teacher removing part of her clothing after repeated insistence by the student.
All four teachers are suspected to be married. It has been reported that they were transferred from the school following the incident, and that their alleged involvement became widely known within the school soon after the videos were leaked.
As a result of the video leak, the teachers involved have faced extreme embarrassment. One teacher claimed on her social media account that the videos were fabricated using AI technology, which also drew mocking reactions online. Following the incident, other teachers disappeared from the internet. However, as the matter went viral, some individuals reportedly created fake accounts using the names of the student and teachers for amusement. There is no doubt that the families of those involved have also suffered severe distress due to the leak.

Approximately three weeks ago, the student reportedly filed a complaint with the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team, stating that the relevant video clips had become public and requesting their removal to protect his privacy. The institution then advised him to first file a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Accordingly, it has now been confirmed that he has lodged a complaint with the CID’s Computer Crimes Investigation Division. A senior official stated that it is true a request was received to remove the relevant footage from the internet. Not much time has passed since the request, and an investigation has reportedly begun.
In addition to examining the student’s involvement in inappropriate online interactions with teachers, investigators are also looking into whether the 20-year-old student had external meetings or unlawful relationships with teachers.
