On Tuesday morning, actress Hema Malini strongly condemned the spread of “false news” about her husband and legendary actor Dharmendra, amid unverified reports of his death.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Hema Malini said that the 89-year-old Dharmendra is “responding well to treatment and recovering.”
“What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and recovering? It is extremely disrespectful and irresponsible behavior. Please show due respect to the family and their need for privacy.”

Hema Malini wrote on the microblogging site:
“What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible media channels spread false news about someone who is responding to treatment and recovering? It is highly disrespectful and irresponsible. Please respect the family’s privacy.”
Shortly after Hema Malini’s post, her daughter Esha Deol also issued a statement denying rumors of her father’s death.

Esha Deol, the elder daughter of Dharmendra and Hema Malini (77), shared an Instagram post saying:
“The media seems to be overactive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to respect our family’s privacy. Thank you for your prayers for his speedy recovery.”
Esha also turned off comments on her post.
Last night, Hema Malini had also shared a health update about Dharmendra on Instagram.
She wrote:
“I thank everyone for their concern for Dharamji, who is under observation at the hospital. He is being continuously monitored, and we are all with him. I request everyone to pray for his good health and speedy recovery.”
Late Monday night, Prakash Kaur, the first wife of Dharmendra and mother of his elder son Sunny Deol, also released a statement saying:
“Mr. Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Further comments and updates will be shared as available. Please do not spread false rumors about his health. We urge everyone to pray for his speedy recovery and respect the family’s right to privacy.”
A source close to the family told NDTV that Dharmendra has been on ventilator support since November 10. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital after complaining of breathing difficulties.
Following the viral reports of Dharmendra’s illness on Monday evening, several family members — including Hema Malini, Sunny Deol, and Bobby Deol — along with Bollywood stars Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Govinda, visited the hospital to see the ailing actor.
