On Monday Night Football, after suffering a severe leg injury, Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill is at risk of missing significant time, though his reaction to the major setback has earned praise.

In the third quarter of his team’s game against the New York Jets, Hill appeared to break his leg while being tackled. He was treated by the team’s medical staff and carted off the field, but on his way to the locker room, he sent a message to fans.

Tyreek Hill Sends a Message to Fans

After being stabilized and placed on the medical cart, Hill was seen sending a reassuring message to Dolphins fans. He smiled and waved to the crowd, showing no visible signs of pain despite what looked like a broken leg.

At the time of Hill’s exit, the Dolphins were leading 10–3, with both the Dolphins and Jets searching for their first win of the season. Hill was leading the team with six receptions for 67 yards before his injury.

So far this season, Hill has recorded 15 receptions for 198 yards, including four touchdowns. His absence could create further problems for the Dolphins’ offense, which has struggled for much of the early season, leaving a gap at the top of the wide receiver depth chart.

“Six believed the Dolphins could recover a third-round draft pick, while one executive debated whether they could push compensation to a second-rounder,” Howe wrote. “Before the 2024 trade deadline, wide receivers Davante Adams and Amari Cooper were moved for third-round picks.”

Howe noted that there are differing opinions, with some executives suggesting the Dolphins would only get a Day 3 draft pick for Hill.

“On the other hand, three executives thought that because of concerns about Hill’s off-field issues, teams might only be willing to swap late-round picks. Others leaned toward him being worth a fourth- or fifth-rounder,” Howe wrote.

The Dolphins could have looked at other trade candidates, though Hill would have been the most logical choice given his age and ability to immediately energize a title contender.
