On Monday, the Department of Justice and the FBI released nearly 11 hours of video footage recorded outside Epstein’s jail cell door. The footage disputes the claim that Epstein died by suicide. Some right-wing figures focused on the video’s timestamp, which skips from 11:58 PM to midnight.

"The video wasn’t conclusive, but previous evidence indicates that he died by suicide," Bondi explained during a cabinet meeting.

"And that — there was one minute that was off the counter, and what we've learned from the Bureau of Prisons is that they reset the video system every night... So the video resets each night, and the same one-minute gap should occur every night," she added.

"So we're trying to release that video to show that the same one-minute gap happens every night, not just in Epstein's case."

Bondi also defended a statement she made in a February interview, where she claimed there was an Epstein client list on her desk. On Monday, she clarified that she was referring to several case files related to Epstein.

Bondi added that thousands of hours of video footage from the Epstein case contain child sexual abuse material and therefore will not be released.

The memo released Monday by the DOJ and FBI concluded that there is no evidence of a “client list” of individuals associated with convicted sex offender Epstein.

The idea of such a list has fueled conspiracy theories, especially from the political right, with some claiming that prominent Democrats were involved. Before their current roles, FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino were both right-wing media personalities who promoted Epstein-related conspiracy theories.

Monday’s memo also confirmed that Epstein died by suicide, rejecting yet another conspiracy theory suggesting that he was murdered.

Bondi, Patel, and Bongino — all influential voices in the MAGA movement — have faced criticism and questions over whether they helped promote claims that the government was covering up explosive details about Epstein.

Epstein was convicted in 2008 for sexual misconduct and was federally charged again in 2019 for running a sex trafficking ring involving underage girls between 2002 and 2005.
